Inclusive Excellence in College Teaching Certificate | Claremont Graduate University – December 2022
Issued by the Center for Academic & Faculty Excellence (CAFE) at Claremont Graduate University, this certificate is awarded after one year of rigorous training through the Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program. Designed for both online and in-person instruction, the two-semester course—Teaching Practicum and Portfolio—emphasizes the practical application of inclusive and student-centered teaching principles. Through structured coaching, feedback, and iterative assignments, participants develop a complete course design, syllabus, learning management system (LMS) shell, and a professional teacher-scholar website. The course also includes a live teaching demonstration and a real-lesson simulation, providing hands-on experience and peer evaluation. It culminates in an integrated final reflection that captures the educator’s journey toward inclusive, future-focused teaching.

Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy centers on cultivating inclusive, engaging, and reflective learning environments that empower students to think critically and apply knowledge beyond the classroom. I strive to create a psychologically safe space, in-person and online, where students feel seen, respected, and motivated to challenge themselves. Drawing on interdisciplinary frameworks and evidence-based pedagogy, I integrate active learning, real-world case analysis, and project-based assessments to bridge theory and practice.
A key component of my approach involves actively engaging community and industry leaders as guest speakers and project collaborators. These partnerships enrich classroom learning by providing students with diverse, real-world perspectives and opportunities to apply course concepts to live business, legal, and organizational challenges. Whether in service marketing, organizational behavior, or business law, I aim to create transformative learning experiences that foster ethical awareness, cultural fluency, and the confidence to lead in complex, diverse environments.
